Time for school!!!

This is a photo of Bear, Bronwen and Mac doing their "Dutch School" on the computer. The Dutch language school they had been attending the last few years has closed (temporarily, while waiting for more funding from the Dutch government---it may take awhile because we all know how tight-fisted those Dutch are!:-)so, in the meantime, Bert has been doing the "Rosetta Stone" Dutch program with the kids. It is for adults, so they can't do everything, but they do amazingly well---even Mac! To them it is just a fun computer game.
If you ever have an interest in learning another language, the "Rosetta Stone" software is great! It is surprisingly easy. Since Bert already speaks Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish and English, he has decided to tackle Italian!!! I think the kids and I will stick with English and Dutch!!!:-)

If you ain't Dutch, you ain't much.

Hey---I used Rosetta Stone to teach Gabe German. By the way---I still have all the stuff in anyone wants to use it. It was great.

As for the photo---the family used to gather around the fire, and then the radio, and NOW the computer!

Yes, I guess we are a typical family of the new millenium, gathered around the computer---not quite as cozy as the fire or a radio show!
We were able to get all the Rosetta Stone stuff through the library, for FREE! (A Dutchman's dream!) Check your local library and see if they offer it---it's worth it!

I've been learning a little Dutch with that computer machine too! Not nearly as much fun as learning German from Frau Oplish on Channel 2 back in '64 though, when the whole class gathered around the TV. I always wondered if she could hear us when we said the stuff back to her. She always said, "Gut, gut", so I thought she did.
